Ideas worth spreading
« on: April 13, 2014, 04:11:16 AM »
Some of you probably know ted.com from where I stole the title. We already have a thread for music videos and on for random videos. I think it would be nice to have one for ideas, too.

This isn't from ted.com, but it is impressive nonetheless.

"Creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson will ask how do we make change happen in education and how do we make it last?"

There is a relatively short and illustrated version of this here:

But I can recommend listening to the whole presentation at http://www.thersa.org/events/video/archive/sir-ken-robinson as well.

The play-list of RSAnimate is also pretty interesting: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL39BF9545D740ECFF

I don't really think the problem comes from advertsing, but it's rather a consequence of a fucked-up hopefully-about-to-collapse capitalist society.

You should be able to watch without the soundtrack then!

About the work of Edward Bernay. A main player that got Propaganda or, in newer terms "Public Relations" into the big business and therefore played a big role in making our states how they are today. But not many people think about this guy if they think about people that shaped our societies. I have his book "Propaganda" here in my shelf. Until now i only read to to the half, and then threw it in the corner in disgust. I really need to reread it.

I only took one of the videos about him. there are many many more for the interested one.

Scientific American piece about a piece of research on gender bias.  The results are applicable across more than just  the field of science of course.

Study shows gender bias in science is real. Here’s why it matters.
