Forum rules

By posting on Guard of Istiniar forum you agree to the following rules. These rules are in effect on all boards. Certain boards may have specific rules which apply only to those boards, read the stickied "posting rules" thread near the top of the main board page to see if these apply.

Purpose of the forum

Welcome to the forum of the multi-gaming clan, Guard of Istiniar. This forum serves as the area where our clan is organized and managed, as well as where our members can interact with each other and with non-members who choose to grace us with their presence.  Most forum sections have specific clan-related purposes such as the organization of trainings, administration of our servers and membership applications. Many of these sections can be viewed by members only. Other than these clan-related areas, we also have sections for discussing various games and off-topic subjects.

Behaviour on the forum

We expect the same behaviour from people on the forum as we do on our gaming servers. We require that all users of our forum act in a polite manner and refrain from insulting other people. Please remember to avoid swearing on the forum, the purpose of posting is communication and swearing inhibits good communication as well as disturbing the atmosphere of the forum.  Swearwords are liable to be removed. Trolling or flaming people is not looked upon kindly here. If you disagree with someone, debate the point, not the person.

Posting to the forum

As we are an international clan, we have members of differing nationalities and native languages. The language we use to communicate, however, is English. You should do your best to post in a style that others, even non-native speakers, can understand. Donít be afraid to post, though. Itís okay if you make mistakes, but you wonít get better if you wonít make an effort.

When making a new post, check whether there is already a thread similar enough to your subject matter (use the search function on the forums) and post there instead of creating a new thread. If youíre posting to an existing thread, try to keep on topic. If youíre creating a new topic, try to do it in the correct part of the forum.

Do not spam. Itís great if youíre enjoying the social aspect of our forum, but do try to make a point instead of just posting smilies to every thread you read.

Prohibited subjects

Any discussion of or links related to pirated or otherwise illegal materials in a manner that advocates their usage or makes it easier is forbidden.

Any discussion of or links related to sexually themed material is forbidden. Any discussion of or links related to Nazism is forbidden.

Derogatory remarks, be they due to religion, philosophical outlook, gender, sexuality, or race, are forbidden.

Any post that the moderators deemed unsuitable for this forum is liable to be edited or deleted. Any user who persistently posts in a way deemed by the moderators to be requiring too much moderator attention is liable to be banned. Any user who violates the principle of respect for all other players or forum users is liable to be banned even if the offence was elsewhere.

In general, if you think something you are going to post might break the rules, donít make the post. All rules also apply to usernames and signatures.

On moderators and need of them

If you have questions or concerns over moderators actions - infractions, closed threads, or comments made by our staff - please send a PM to the moderator responsible for the decision, who will happily explain the situation. Our staff do not have the time to publicly justify their every move, and neither could we reasonably expect them to.

Disrespectful commentary toward our staff will not be tolerated and the public posting of PM's, or other personal information, between a user and moderator (as with anyone else) will result in a suspension.
Let the moderators do their job. Reporting a post does help us (thanks), but other actions may just make the situation worse.

You may get a private message from a moderator saying (s)he has edited your post, citing a reason for the act. Do not edit your post back to its original state or make a thread criticizing the moderatorís actions if you think (s)heís been in the wrong. Please reply to the moderator a private message and clarify why you wrote what you did.

If you feel a moderator has treated you unjustly and you have tried to solve the problem with him/her, but canít seem to solve your differences, you can contact another moderator for help in the matter.
