Heavy hooves
« on: August 12, 2012, 06:04:20 PM »
A mod I thought most people knew about, but apparently not. Speaking of awareness in battle, it is essential to know the positions of the enemy cavalry. While this mod makes cavalry noises extremely loud, I can ensure you it lives up to it's motto: "No More Sneaky Horses!". If you haven't tried it, give it a go.

That might be really helpful. But I'm not sure if that wouldn't be considered cheating in tournaments?

I read the volumes have been increased by 15 decibels. That seems to be a bit drastic. Will I be able to hear anything else?

I always thought it would be a good idea to have the Vikingr Horse hooves sounds in Native, they sound so much better and heavier, I would dl this but 15 decibels seems, as Ivarr said, very drastic.

Very useful, thanks. Using it now.

I can tell you from experience that it really isn't drastic.

Naah, everybody is free to download it, and if they can't find that mod, well, it's not your responsability to show it to them.
I doubt it would be considered cheating.

It will be drastic if you want to hear the rest of the sounds just as high as you are used to. But the balance is in my opinion just right, so turn down the general volume and you'll have louder horses and less of everything else. Yes, you won't hear a crossbowman unsheathing 5 miles away, but it's about priority and here cavalry does take first prize.

I do still have to turn down the volume even further if it's a 25v25 all cav map :P

Might as well try it out then, no harm in testing (unless you work for Aperture). Cheers Kekn.

I don't think so, im using it now and it makes me kind of paranoid. Hearing horses everywhere on the map is as beneficial as not hearing them at all...

Would be great if the sounds of friendly horsies could be changed to what ever, like white rabbits and enemies like rhinos and while at it make the sounds of bolts like star wars laser rifles and or arrows the sounds of cruse missiles, please!!!
