I don't have the game but my mate was saying how it seems to have had a buggy launch and he gets horrendous fps lag, not in the battles but on the campaign map oddly enough, going down to 6 fps at times, I was reading up on this and apparently Radeon users are the worst affected.

Yes, very bad optimisation, a lot of bugs especially in multiplayers. But a good total war anyways.

I will say that yesterday after a thousands of "Ku**a" I managed to install it. First I couldn't run installation from DVD so I tried downloading, hahahah nice try fool. I had to change language to English and then it started and I even downloaded patch! But after that I couldn't download additional 1GB, I had region for download set in Germany so I changed it to Romania, it downloaded only 330mb, Finally Ryozus home gave me a possibility to play it! I had posted on Total War forums before the release my specs( I run Shogun on ultra) and I was promised to play on medium-high, pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I play on the lowest with lags in battles, that's why I grow a trade Empire as Egypt :C
Spoiler
I hadn't got key to DLC in box but I will have it today via e-maiil from shop
and apparently Radeon users are the worst affected.
I have GeForce :/

Same here, Rome II automatically reduces texture quality to low, even though I could run Shogun 2 on High, which makes the game look pretty bad

It creates a file containing your settings in your user\appdata folder. Maybe you can change the values by editing this file.
